CE News 9 November 2025
Well, folks, we have a new experience under our belts: singing the national anthem before the hockey crowd on Saturday. It was lot of fun, and thank you to those who could be part of it: there were 16 of us who took up the challenge and it was a great moment for Choral Evolution. It would be great to do again, with more of us there. I didn't stay to watch the game, but half of us did, and I'm sure it was an exciting game.
A reminder to us all that there are songs that Andre wants us to have off book; I can't remember which they are, but we can fill that in on Wednesday. It is best to try to memorize most of our songs so we use the paper copy as a reference. It makes watching Andre so much easier. We are also coming up on our second long rehearsal/retreat on Saturday, 15 November. It is really important for us to be there for all the rest of the rehearsals, so stay well, wash your hands, and keep practicing. We have only 3 rehearsals + the long rehearsal before our dress!!! We will also be looking for volunteers for goodies for the "coffee break" during the long rehearsal. We will ask for hands on Wednesday.
As discussed last Wednesday, we will go with the red/white/red columns for our costumes. On Wednesday I will take the opportunity to where the lines might be so you know if you are wearing red or white. Black pants and shoes will round out the look.
We are looking for Canadian memorabilia: hockey sticks, moose or elk antlers/stuffed head, beaver, bale of hay, etc. for our set for the shows. If you have something that screams "Canadian" please let me know.
Sebastien will be creating our program this year (Thanks, Sebastien!!) and he would really like some ads to put in there. Have you reached out to anyone who might want to advertise in the program? You will receive a copy in your email of what to share with others about the ad space. Please help us to build the program. Ads are due by 15 November so there is not much time left!
We will be in Sooke at Sooke Community Hall on Wednesday; see you there!
