12 Oct 25 CE news
Well, the rains have come. That means we can stay inside, keep warm and take that 15-20 minutes per day and rehearse. I've been using my "sitting" time constructively to review the notes on the page with the recordings, and finding my trouble spots. So far there are lots, but the more I rehearse, the less trouble spots I find. I encourage everyone to find their own trouble spots, mark them and review until they go away. It works!
Next Wednesday we are at CLA per the schedule. Thank you, Diane, for finding us a space to rehearse when other areas are occupied! We also have the long rehearsal....otherwise known as the retreat!...on Saturday 18 October, from 9 to 1 at St Rose of Lima church in Sooke. Maps are in the members area and on a tab just above the calendar. Hope to see everyone there as we accomplish so much during the 4 hours. We will take a break in the middle to have coffee/tea and goodies (thank you to those who volunteered).
Sectionals have been taking place and this is a great way to share knowledge, find places to work on, and build confidence in the music. Great work everyone, and thank you to the people who have stepped forward to keep us on track: Adriana, Keiran and Maureen/Andre.
As suggested last rehearsal, there will be a "job board" put up on Saturday at the rehearsal. Please review and put your name somewhere on the board. We are only as successful as our volunteers allow, so everyone taking a job helps. Please also start telling your people when the shows will be so they can save the date for us. An email was sent out to the Fan Club already about that. It would be great for everyone to buy or sell at least 2 tickets for the show when they are available. This ensures our seats are filled and we have an audience to perform for.
As a fundraising idea, we have Purdy's which will be shared soon with all in an email. Friends and family can also order, just make sure Joscelyn knows who they are linked with. Another idea is to give the choir the money from your bottle returns. I kept mine over the summer and managed to share $120 to the choir. It is a painless way to share money with the choir. The "I Love My Choir" box is open for such a contribution.
Your board was introduced on Wednesday. As a recap: Diane/Sherry are co-presidents; Joscelyn is secretary; Jackie is treasurer; Sally is past president; Kristin and Adriana are directors. If you have any feedback, concerns or praises, reach out to one of the board.
If you are a FB user, make sure you are part of the Backstage at Choral Evolution group, and check out the work that Joscelyn has done on FB. Adriana takes care of the website, so a big thank you to her!
See you Wednesday!
